For communities
Bring live music
to your community.
We perform for retirement homes, assisted living and memory care communities, skilled nursing, hospice, and adult day centers across the Durham–Chapel Hill area — at no cost to you.
How we work
What you can count on.
We show up, consistently.
Care communities don't need surprise visits. They need a date on the calendar that holds. We commit to a cadence and we keep it.
An adult is always present.
Every visit is accompanied by an adult chaperone. We're glad to complete any volunteer screening or sign-in process your community requires.
We treat it like a concert.
Rehearsed sets, real instruments, a program built for your residents. The people we play for deserve a performance, not a drop-in.
What a visit looks like
Questions activities directors ask us.
How long is a performance?
Most visits run 45 to 60 minutes, including time for residents to request pieces and talk with the musicians afterward. We can shorten or lengthen to fit your activity schedule.
Who performs, and is an adult present?
A small ensemble of student musicians, accompanied by an adult chaperone on every visit. Our musicians are rehearsed and prepared for the room they're walking into.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Performances are completely free to your community, funded entirely by donors who sponsor each visit.
What do you need from us?
A common room or activity space, chairs for residents, and a piano if one is available (we bring our own instruments otherwise). We'll confirm the details with you ahead of time.
What music do you play?
Jazz, classical, and traditional pieces — and we welcome requests. Residents often ask for a hymn, a wedding song, or a piece from their youth, and we do our best to learn it.
How far ahead should we book?
Two to four weeks is ideal, though we'll always try to accommodate sooner. We perform on a recurring cadence with our partner communities.
From a partner community
“Their visits became something our residents truly looked forward to. If they couldn't make it, residents would often ask when they would be back.”
— Activities Coordinator, a partner retirement community
